Mike Nugent is a lifelong Missoulian, dedicated public servant, and housing advocate committed to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future for his hometown. He currently serves as a City Council member representing Ward 4 in Missoula, Montana, where he chairs the Land Use and Planning Committee and sits on the City-County Board of Health.
Nugent holds a degree in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Montana. Professionally, he is the Vice President and Managing Broker at Berkshire Hathaway Montana Properties, overseeing operations across 18 communities statewide. He also co-owns a local small Midtown business, Paradise Falls, with his wife, Staci, and father-in-law, reflecting his deep ties to Missoula’s entrepreneurial community.
His public service extends beyond city government. Nugent has been President of the United Way of Missoula County, Vice President of the Missoula County Fairgrounds Foundation, and a Commissioner on the Missoula Housing Authority Board. He has also served on various nonprofit boards and strategic planning committees, including those for Missoula Fairgrounds Foundation and the Missoula Family YMCA.
Nugent’s policy priorities focus on addressing Missoula’s housing crisis, reforming outdated zoning codes, and ensuring that growth benefits all residents. He advocates for public-private partnerships to create sustainable affordability and believes in priority-based budgeting to align city spending with community needs.
